anzea's identity
The tohu and whakatauki, both integral to the identity of anzea , reflect our vision and core values. The anzea tohu incorporates the poutama and tapa designs of Aotearoa and the Pacific. The “tapa toru” (three sides) of the triangle design is an indigenous symbol of the “maunga” (mountain) which represents the search for higher meanings, and the quest for self, individual and community wholeness; it can also refer to the process of “triangulation”. The “niho taniwha” (teeth of the taniwha) are symbolic of strength. The koru in the lettering symbolise generative energy, dynamic growth.
The whakatauki, “He kura te tangata” (People are precious) reflects the regard that we have both for the intrinsic value of a human being and for the contribution of each person to the well-being of their whānau, their communities and their environment.

anzea's goals
Promote and facilitate the development of evaluation practices and standards which are relevant to Aotearoa New Zealand, with particular reference to the principles and obligations established by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and reflecting the unique bi-cultural context of Aotearoa New Zealand, while also providing a framework from which multi-culturalism can be embraced and responded to.
Promote excellence in evaluation in Aotearoa New Zealand, with a focus on the maintenance of appropriate ethical standards for the profession; the development of evaluation as a skilled practice, a craft requiring methodological appropriateness and quality; and supporting evaluation as a learning and change strategy, and the role of evaluators in informing any change process across policy and programme development and implementation.
Facilitate debate and exchange of ideas and dissemination of knowledge in the practice of evaluation through the conduct of meetings, conferences, education and training events, newsletters and other publications, and other activities

TopWhile anzea is supported by a national Executive Board, it will succeed only through the active participation of its members and stakeholders. Succession and sustainability are both core tenets.
Furthermore ... anzea thrives because it is celebratory and fun to be part of. Branch events, awards evenings, conference dinners, AGM dinners, and parties are all envisaged as essential activities ... We look forward to meeting you there!
